THE GEAR ARE BACK FOR A BIG WEEKENDER!

Rockin’ Melbourne three-piece The Gear who became a staple live act on the local scene since their formation in 2004, return to the Ding Dong stage this Saturday night for a big Weekender! Supported by fellow rockers Master Cardinal, this will be The Gear’s first gig for 2008 and promises to be a big one for the boys, who have spent the last six months since returning from the U.S. and Canada demoing new material for planned recording in the coming year.

Monday 4th December: The Gear head back to SXSW: 2007
The Gear have been selected to perform at SXSW in Austin Texas and Canadian Music Week in Toronto Canada during March 2007.

It will be the second time The Gear head to the festivals- their 2006 invitation coincided with their first North American shows.

Before embarking on a big 2007 The Gear will play their last shows of the year for local gear fans at The Crown & Anchor Adelaide December 16th, and The Rob Roy Melbourne December 23rd.

Monday 21st August: Gear track in '48 Shades' Movie
The track 'Eight Arms to Hold You' from The Gear EP will feature in the new Australian teen film ''48 Shades''. The film is adapted from Nick Earls award winning novel "48 Shades of Brown".

The Gear have just returned from shows in L.A. performing at venues such as The Key Club on Sunset Strip. The band also met with legendary rock DJ Rodney Bingenheimer who has been an influential supporter of the band in the U.S.

''48 Shades'' is in cinemas from August 30th.

Wedesday 16th August: The Gear at The Key Club Hollywood!

The Gear last night played The Key Club Hollywood to an eager and impressive audience. Opening with the track 'Poisoned by the Ivy' a favourite with American audiences, the band played the second of their two shows while visiting L.A. for the second time since March. Native Wayne from Indie 103.1 introduced the band onstage before The Gear's impassioned fast- paced set.

Sunday 13th August: The Gear on 103.1 with Native Wayne

The Gear were interviewed in a Live Radio Broadcast today in Malibu California on Indie 103.1 FM with the World Famous 'Native Wayne' (Wayne Jobson). The boys soaked up the sun talking music and plans in the U.S. before answering questions about the bands beginnings in Australia. DJ Wayne Jobson is a well known producer, and grammy award winner for the No Doubt singles 'Hey Baby' and 'Underneath It All'.

Saturday 12th August: The Gear have dinner with Rodney Bingenheimer!
The Gear headed to Rodney's favourite restaurant tonight while in L.A. for dinner to meet with the radio legend.

Bingenheimer has been a big supporter playing the bands tracks on his KROQ show since April. The 'pop-impresario' is well known for his support in breaking acts such Oasis, The Sex Pistols and David Bowie.

Rodney presented the band with a autographed poster from the classic rockumentry about his life and times: ''Major Of The Sunset Strip''.

Friday 11th August: IPO Festival at the Knitting Factory
Last night was the first show for The Gear after arriving in L.A. on their August trip to the States.
After an evening of performances by both U.S. and international acts, The Gear took to the stage for a sweaty and ferocious set on the small Knitting Factory stage.

It was also a celebratory night for the band, Jet O'Rourke's birthday is on August 10th!

Tuesday 16th May: The Gear support Living Colour
The Gear play their first of three shows at The Metro Melbourne with U.S. cult legends Living Colour.

The shows come before a big weekend for The Gear playing shows in O'Rourke's hometown Adelaide for set- to- be big shows at the popular Crown &  Anchor venue.

The Gear return to the The Rob Roy for Melbourne fans next weekend.

Saturday 18th April: Rodney on the ROQ plays The Gear
Legendary U.S. DJ Rodney Bingenheimer breaker of acts such as David Bowie, Blondie, Oasis and Coldplay played two tracks from The Gear's debut EP on his Sunday night show.

Tracks played included 'I've Got Trouble' and 'Eight Arms To Hold You' which will also feature in the new Australian movie '48 Shades'.

The Gear will return to L.A. in July to play the IPO Festival and other dates to be scheduled.

Saturday 18th March: SXSW
The Gear played their SXSW Showcase performance at The Blender Balcony at The Ritz in Austin Texas.

The Gear also played an in store performance during the afternoon at The Stash in Austin as part of the SXSW celebrations with Bluebottle Kiss and Dappled Cities Fly.

  
 
Tuesday 7th March: The Gear in New York City
The Gear play Arlene's Grocery in NYC their first U.S. performance.

  

Friday 3rd March: Bovine Sex Club
The Gear play their major CMW Showcase at Toronto's Bovine Sex Club.  



Thursday 2nd March: Canadian Music Week
The Gear play their first CMW Showcase at The Richmond Lounge in Toronto.

Wednesday 1st March: KT meets The Gear
The Gear have arrived in Toronto to play Canadian Music Week on the first of their North American tour dates.

On opening night of the fesival The Gear attended KT Tunstall's concert at Toronto's Mod Club.

The boys were lucky enough to catch up with KT her aftershow party.





January 8th 2006: At the beach for Channel 31
The Gear filmed a forthcoming episode of the Channel 31 programme 'On the Couch'.

Without giving anything away the seaside setting proved the perfect backdrop for The Gear's latest escapade.






December 31st 2005: NYE @ Ding Dong
The Gear saw in the new year playing to a capacity crowd at Melbourne's Ding Dong Lounge. This will be there last show for a while as the band takes time out to rehearse and record in readiness for their forthcoming trip to the U.S. and Canada.  







Friday 25th November: The Gear head to SXSW 2006


The Gear have been selected to perform at two much sought after showcases during SXSW in Austin Texas and Canadian Music Week in Toronto Canada during March 2006.

Speaking on behalf of The Gear, singer songwriter Jet O'Rourke described the invitation to perform at both the SXSW and CMW as a truly wonderful opportunity for the band, who are still getting over the incredible buzz of performing at the Rod Laver Arena as part of Coke Live 05.

The Gear will perform their last show for the year at Melbourne's popular Ding Dong Lounge this New Years Eve- but be warned The Gear's last show at Ding Dong was a sell out.

Thursday 10th November: Canadian Music Week 2006

Sunday 9th October: Coke Live n Local '05 Melbourne 4 November 2005:
The Gear celebrated John Lennon's Birthday in fine style by performing at the Coke Live '05 Concert at Rod Laver arena as the Victorian winners of the Best Unsigned Band Competition.

Joining them on the bill were The Living End, Spiderbait, P-Money, Dallas Crane and The Spazzys. The Melbourne show marked the end of the successful sold out tour.



Saturday 24th September: Weekender, Ding Dong
The Gear played to a packed and enthusiastic Ding Dong crowd celebrating AFL Grand Final night, and while the game was won by the West Coast Eagles, this Melbourne crowd didn't seem to mind.

The gig had it all- from topless dancing, to stage invasions, with lots of drinking, dancing and frivolity being the order of the night.

Sorry to all those people who were sadly turned away at the door.





16th September 2005: The Gear EP Adelaide Launch
The Gear played to a fantastic Adelaide crowd at the Crown & Anchor to celebrate the release of The Gear EP. Thanks to the Crown & Anchor, Unspoken Things, Fire Underground, and our friends and fans who made this a spectacular performance for the band.

15th September 2005: On The Couch

The Gear are very proud to announce they are the Victorian Winners of the Coke Live n Local competition.

The Gear played to a full house crowd at The Duke of Windsor Saturday night as a farewell to the famous venue closing during August. The night also played host to performances by

28th February, 2005: Australian Hair Fashion Awards
The Gear performed to a full house at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards, held at Sydney Town Hall. Pictured are the band in rehearsals for the night.

3rd February, 2005: Tonelli Photo Session
The Gear took part in a photo session with renowned music photographer Kim Tonelli. Tonelli's photo credits include Oasis, You Am I, and Paul Weller.

Australian Music Week have announced The Gear has been selected to showcase at this years premier music event taking place in Melbourne between 22-26 February.

21st December, 2004: The Gear in the Studio
The Gear have just completed recording tracks with Aria winning producer Paul McKercher at Melbourne's Sing Sing studios. The debut release from The Gear is due out early in 2005
